Los Muertos Skull Belt Buckle by TheNailBoy Los Muertos Skull Belt Buckle by TheNailBoy
This is a bronze belt buckle in the style of my "Los Muertos" skeletons. It weighs almost 9oz and is very antique-looking.

Is there a particular technique that you use to get the background bits to be black, or does that just happen naturally?

Yes. I dip the belt buckle in a hot bath of liver of sulphur and that oxidized the outer layer of metal. Then I clean up and polish the areas I want to shine while leaving the bachground untouched and there you have it!

It makes the buckle look very antique, very rad.

Yes, that's one of the bitchin' things about bronze. You can make it look practically prehistoric!

That is really awesome. You've portrayed the calaveras style really well. Too bad it's not made of sugar... The antiquing is also very nice. It gives a lot of contrast.
